Lutein lowers risk of Macular Degeneration
An organization dedicated to preventing Age-Related Macular Degeneration says that physicians should be urging their patients
to consume more lutein — a compound found in certain vegetables, but most reliably used as a nutritional supplement.

By the way, it has been shown that eating vegetables (such as spinach) that contain lutein results in almost none of the lutein
getting into the body — unless the vegetables are thoroughly puréed. The same may be true of various other nutritional substances.
