L-carnosine: a treatment for autism
A physician in Illinois has announced the result of a clinical study in which he treated 31 autistic children twice per day
for 8 weeks with either 400 mg L-carnosine powder or a placebo. The children were then assessed for autism symptoms at a pediatric
neurology clinic. Those receiving L-carnosine showed significant improvements in autistic behaviors as well as increases in
language comprehension, whereas those on placebo did not. The physician, Michael G. Chez, claims a 90% success rate in treating
more than 1000 autistic patients with L-carnosine.
