Baseball player rejects anti-supplement mentality
Most serious athletes are not fooled by the media- and government-inspired rhetoric directed against athletic performance
enhancers. Athletes know, either from personal experience or from the experience of friends, that many of the enhancers are
effective, and that the supposed dangers are being greatly exaggerated by people who stand to benefit by misinforming the
public. But most athletes have been intimidated into silence, and so you seldom hear their views on the matter. Fortunately,
there are a few exceptions.
One such exception is baseball player David Wells, a pitcher for the New York Yankees. Wells is unapologetic about his use
of performance enhancing supplements, and states his views clearly and rationally — in stark contrast to the twisted, muddle-headed
views of his critics.
