Folic Acid lowers leukemia risk in newborns
Folic Acid (aka ‘folate’ or ‘vitamin B9’), already widely promoted for prevention of certain birth defects, is now in the
limelight as a supplement to be taken during pregnancy for prevention of leukemia in one’s offspring. Scientists at the Institute
of Cancer Research in the UK have discovered that the use of folic acid during pregnancy nearly halves the incidence of childhood
leukemia.
