Creatine supplements for increasing memory and intelligence
In the September 2003 Supplements in the News we mentioned a news article about creatine as an enhancer of mental performance. The research study on which that article
was based has now been published.
The study tested the hypothesis that oral creatine supplementation (5 g/day for six weeks) would enhance intelligence test
scores and working memory performance in 45 young adult, vegetarian subjects. The researchers concluded that creatine supplementation
had a significant positive effect on both working memory and intelligence.
