Fish oil studies suggest use for heart attack, arrhythmia, and arthritis
According to news reports in February, Australian researchers have found omega-3 fish oil to be as effective as many expensive

Heart arrhythmias are disorders of the regular beating of the heart. Most people have them occasionally, and most cases are
harmless, but some arrhythmias are extremely dangerous and can lead to heart disease, stroke or sudden death. Clinical studies
have shown that fish oil supplements reduce the risk of death from arrhythmias.

The efficacy of fish oils in the diet for preventing or treating arthritis has been shown in clinical trials, animal feeding
experiments and in vitro models that mimic cartilage destruction in arthritic disease. The biological mechanism for this effect
is not understood.
