Policosanol — for uncooperative hearts, bellies, and muscles
Policosanol is a mixture of long-chain fatty alcohols obtained from the waxes of sugar cane and other plants.
In studies in humans and other subjects, policosanol supplementation has resulted in:
- significant reductions in LDL serum cholesterol and increases in HDL (‘good’) cholesterol;
- amelioration of coronary heart disease;
- decrease in visceral fat (the internal fat that causes big bellies);
- improved muscle endurance.
